Members-Only Question
Is circumcision a good idea or a bad one?
According to Mehmet Oz, MD — RealAge medical adviser and health expert for The Oprah Winfrey Show — it’s both. (Tune in to Oprah’s show today . . . You won’t believe how Oz takes a no-holds-barred approach to more questions like this from the audience!) Here is his 411 on foreskin.
(see below ↓)
The Pros
It’s a highly debated issue, but some studies show that circumcision may cut the rate of sexually transmitted diseases by up to half — both the rate at which men acquire them and the rate at which they transmit them.
The Cons
On the other hand, the penis is fairly packed with nerves, and some of the most sensitive are located in the foreskin. Obviously, men who’ve been circumcised don’t know what they might be missing with a sheath-free sword. But there is some speculation that sexual experiences do feel different for both men and women when a foreskin is present. And some men report decreased sexual pleasure without one.
At any rate, regardless of how much skin you have down below, you might be thinking, “Works for me!”
