All About MEN: Extra Bedroom Brawn
No one wants to admit it, but trouble down below really is quite common. It happens to 15-30 million men.
But before popping a virility pill, try some below-the-belt exercises. That’s right — toning your pelvic floor muscles just might solve the problem. All it takes is some regular practice. Here’s how to do it.
Good for Women, Good for Men
Exercises that strengthen the pelvic floor muscles have long been recommended for a variety of female problems. Seems they’re good for men, too. In a study, about 40 percent of the men who had erectile dysfunction (ED) regained normal function when they worked on pelvic floor exercises for 6 months, first with a skilled trainer, and then on their own.
Tightens and Tones
Your pelvic floor muscles support your bladder and bowel. So when you’re exercising those muscles, you’re looking for that feeling you get when you clench up in an effort to control yourself during delicate situations — say, when you’re trying to control diarrhea or cut off urine flow midstream. The penis should retract and the scrotum should lift.
